There are two ways to connect a Google mailbox to Mailivery:
| Your mailbox | How it connects |
| Google Workspace, formerly G Suite (for example, [email protected]) | Sign in with Google (recommended). No app password needed. |
| Personal Gmail (for example, [email protected]) | App password. Google sign-in is for Google Workspace mailboxes. |
Step 1: Start adding the mailbox
- From your Mailivery dashboard, click Add Mailbox.
- Under Select your email provider, click the Google logo.
- Enter the email address of the mailbox you want to warm up, then click Next.
- For a Google Workspace address, choose Sign in with Google or Google with app password under How do you want to connect?. A personal Gmail address (@gmail.com or @googlemail.com) goes straight to the app password form. Follow Option B.

Option A: Sign in with Google (Google Workspace)
1. Choose Sign in with Google, then click Continue with Google.
2. Mailivery shows a One-time setup by your Workspace admin box. If your admin already trusts Mailivery, skip to step 4.

3. Have your Google Workspace admin do this once:
- In the Google Admin console, open Security › Access and data control › API controls, then Manage Third-Party App Access. The Open Admin console link in Mailivery takes you there.
- Click Configure new app and search for Mailivery's client ID. Use the Copy button next to the client ID in Mailivery.
- Select Mailivery (Web), then choose who can use it: all users, or the organizational unit that holds this mailbox. Click Continue.
- Under Access to Google Data, choose Trusted, then click Continue and Finish.
- Not the admin? Click Copy these steps in Mailivery and send them to your admin.
4. Back in Mailivery, click Open Google sign-in.
5. Sign in with the mailbox you entered. Google shows two screens:
◦ "Google will allow mailivery.io to access this info about you." Click Continue.◦ "mailivery.io wants access to your Google Account." It asks to "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail". Mailivery needs this to send and read warm-up emails. If Google shows a checkbox next to it, tick it. Then click Allow.

Mailivery tests sending and reading before it adds the mailbox. Without the admin setup, Google shows "Google hasn't verified this app" before sign-in, or blocks sign-in, depending on your Workspace settings.
Option B: Connect with an app password
Option B: Connect with an app password
- Create an app password first. Follow How to Create an App Password for Gmail / Gsuite / Google Workspace Mailbox. Your Google account needs 2-Step Verification turned on.
- In Mailivery, choose Google with app password. Personal Gmail addresses skip this choice and go straight to the form.
- Fill in the form, paste your app password, and click Add Account.
Step 2: Review your warm-up settings

If Google sign-in doesn't finish
Mailivery shows a message that explains what happened. Nothing is connected until sign-in succeeds, so you can safely try again.

| Message you see | What to do |
| Google sign-in was cancelled | You chose Cancel or didn't allow access on Google's screen. Sign in again and choose Allow. |
| Gmail access wasn't allowed | The Gmail permission wasn't given. Try again and allow (or tick) "Read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail" on Google's screen. |
| You signed in with a different account | You picked a different Google account than the one you entered. Try again and choose the mailbox you entered in Mailivery. |
| Your sign-in link expired | Google sign-in has to finish within 15 minutes, and each link works only once. Start a new sign-in. |
| Google sign-in didn't finish | If Google showed "Google hasn't verified this app" or blocked sign-in, your Workspace admin hasn't trusted |
| Gmail blocked Mailivery's connection test | Sign-in worked, but Mailivery couldn't send or read mail. If IMAP is off, ask your Workspace admin to turn it on in Admin console › Apps › Google Workspace › Gmail › End User Access, then try again. Otherwise, try again, and if it fails again, send support the reply Gmail gave. |
| Google couldn't finish the sign-in | This is usually temporary. Try again in a minute. If it fails again, send support the error code shown. |
| Your address is already connected | Each address can be added to Mailivery only once. Enter a different address. If it isn't in your mailbox list, contact support. |
| No mailbox slots left on your plan | All mailboxes included in your plan are in use. Upgrade your plan or remove a mailbox, then try again. |
Most of these messages also offer Use app password instead, if you'd rather connect with an app password (see Option B).
Reconnecting a Google sign-in mailbox
Google can stop accepting Mailivery's access after a password change, when access is removed in the Google account, or when your Workspace admin stops trusting Mailivery. When that happens, open the mailbox's Settings › Connection. The Google sign-in card shows Connection problem. Click Reconnect with Google and sign in as that mailbox. Mailivery tests sending and reading before it saves the new access.
